A vote by the general membership will be held at the Press Club’s Holiday Party & Annual Meeting, 5:30-8 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Market Garden Brewery, 1947 W. 25th St.

The board consists of 19 members with at least 10 working journalists, who are designated as Media (M) members. The other nine board members are designated as Other (O) and may include journalists as well as people engaged in allied fields. The sole function of the designation is to ensure the club is governed by a majority of working journalists.

Directors serve staggered two-year terms, so each year sees the election of either nine or 10 board members. This year, there was an extra board seat to fill for a one-year term due to the early departure of a previous board member.

Current board members whose terms continue until the end of 2023 are:

  • Cliff Anthony (O), Professor of Journalism, LCCC
  • Curtis Danburg (O), VP Communication and Community Impact, Cleveland Guardians
  • Thom Fladung (O), Managing Partner, Hennes Communications
  • Marlene Harris-Taylor (M), Director of Engaged Journalism, Ideastream
  • Carol Kovach (M)
  • Amy McGahan (O), Managing Director, Dix & Eaton
  • Elizabeth McIntyre (M)
  • Russ Mitchell (M), Anchor and Managing Editor, WKYC-TV3

Members of this year’s nominating committee were Kevin Adelstein, Sam Allard, John Betchkal, Sharon Broussard, Shannon Mortland, Bob Rosenbaum (chair) and David Sartin. The committee priorities in developing this year’s slate included strategic planning, fundraising, representation from forward-looking media entities, and an ongoing commitment to diversity.
